NDFF Pellet survey
Latest version published by Dutch National Database of Flora and Fauna (NDFF) on Mar 27, 2018
Pellet analysis is applied to assess the occurrence of the Microtus oeconomus, Neomys fodiens and Crocidura leucodon on a national level. This is done by analysing pellets from Tyto alba during the breeding season. The species of prey found in the pellets (on average) indicate the habitat around the breeding location with a diameter of 1 kilometre. The data is combined and validated by the Dutch Mammal Society.
